I was thinking, and reading over again, the passage Jim had preached on several weeks ago and I am continually struck by the point the Apostle Paul makes about our righteousness from Philippians 3:9.  After telling us what great length he has gone to in making sure that he may "gain Christ and be found in him" (v.8) he tells us that this is all because he doesn't have a righteousness of his own, "but that which comes through faith in Christ." (v.9)  This is a very staggering remark to make not only in his time but ours too! 
Think about it: there is a righteousness that "comes" (in other words is given to us, because if it were already in us there would no need for it to come to us) to us through faith in Christ.  Because we have a faith in Christ as being God in the flesh, descended, resurrected, and now ascended we are given a righteousness.  The righteousness that believers now have in Christ, has nothing to do with social status, biblical knowledge, money, color of skin, meritorious work, or geographic location but only has to do with whether or not we got it from Christ.  Christ gives us what is His, and takes from us what was ours, in order that we may be with Him and worship Him forever. 
Let us keep this valuable treasure of biblical truth alive and well in our hearts daily!  In a world that constantly points at itself, and a "look what I can do" mentality, we are growing more and more desperate and needy of reminders to all things being accomplished by Christ and not us.  I pray and hope that this leads us to experience more fully the joy and love of God, and that we feel free to serve one another more sacrifically and fully until the "appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ." (Titus 2:13)
